CHAMELEONS CLUB REVIEW 11TH JULY
Chameleons in Darlaston has to be by far the number one swingers venue in the UK, On 11th July 2009 me (Dene the Administrator for SwingforPleasure) and Dave were invited along to a party there with some friends from this site who we have not seen for a while. Initially we were a bit hestitant to go because the journey was going to take roughly 3 hours each way, but I am pleased to say it was worth the trip and I will definately be making it again. Chameleons website itself just does not do this venue the justice it deserves.
When you first arrive you are greeted by a parking attendant who points you to a parking place within the grounds of the venue. It is totally secure with cctv monitoring the parking area. From the outside the venue looks like an industrial unit, but once inside thats where the similarity ends. You are greeted at the desk in a nice friendly way, pay your entrance fees and obtain your locker key. If you are new to Chameleons you will be given the tour and I really do recommend that you take it. The place itself is like one huge maze as you will soon see from this review.
Once you have paid, you go through the next door to the lockers and get changed into your towel, these are of course freshly cleaned and provided free of charge in your locker. You can always obtain more if needed. The locker rooms are nice and clean and the lockers themselves are not battered around like most other venues. Everything seems to be kept to professional cleaniless. As you go past the lockers you will pass the bar area where you can hand over your drinks, they will have a ticket put on them with your locker number so you can just ask one of friendly bar staff whenever you need a top up. If you don't take your own you can puchase drinks on the premises at what I call a reasonable price for once. Everything you do purchase is put on your locker key tab number and you pay when you eventually leave, which is great because you dont need to worry about carrying money around with you.
There is plenty of seating and tables all around the bar area and plenty of staff working, so you are never kept waiting to obtain a drink.
Chameleons consists of three floors and there is definately something for everyone. Downstairs there is a nice big bar area etc, but as you explore you will find there are two big heated hot tubs, with showers which are spotless, and there is also a huge chill out room with sofas and a tv so you can take time out and just relax. What I did find is that within five minutes of being in Chameleons, you felt totally at ease and that is testiment to the staff who were extremely friendly, they created the basis for the great atmosphere which radiated out from everyone who was there. There was definately a buzz in the air with the music playing around you, but not overly loud, so you could still have a decent conversation without shouting.
When you go up the first flight of stairs you come across loads of doors. Also up here is the outdoor smoking area, which of course I headed to! At last a club that does not penalise you for being a smoker! Here you will find a nice big outside decking area with sun loungers, they also have several outside wall mounted heaters so there is no way you would get cold. This area seemed really popular with members, who gathered to chat and socialise and is one of the many places you could sit down and get to know others.
On this level there are several play rooms. The thing I liked is that you have a choice. Some rooms have doors on them with locks, these are for couples or for a group of swingers to get together in private and lock the door behind them for what we call in the swingers scene private play. Don't get me wrong though, the single guys will leave you alone and will not join in unless they ask or invited, they will just stand around and watch. There are also rooms for couples only with no single guys allowed in them. Some of these types of rooms did have glory holes or windows, which you can stand outside and watch.
As I made my way around this level, it just got better and better. There were so many rooms to play around in. In one room there was a huge round bed, this room was one of the most popular. The bed was in the middle of the room and can be revolved round while you were on it, I dont think I need to go into too much detail as to what sort of fun could be had in here.
One thing I did notice as I walked down these hall ways and looked into all these rooms, was that people would smile and say hello to you whether they knew you or not, this can make a huge difference to a club and how comfortable you feel there. I have attended quite a few clubs now and there are certain ones that have a very 'clicky' atmosphere, where people keep to the groups they arrive in and do not socialise with anyone else. These barriers do not exist here, everyone was very friendly and happy to chat.
On the top floor there were a few more rooms, one had a bed in it with a swing hanging in the corner for the more adventuous swingers. If you get a chance I really do recommend trying the swing out. We have one here at home and some really good fun can be had in one of these. There were other rooms on this floor with just beds in them. Up a few more steps I come across the Dungeon, kitted out with a bed with posts to handcuff your partner to. Also there were other attachments on the walls to use. The Dungeon had low lighting in the room to set the atmosphere.
In my opinion, here is what this place has that others do not, apart from the vast array of playrooms. By the early hours of the morning I was bloody hungry. At the bar was a menu for hot food, and I treated myself to a lovely bacon sandwich and I have to add at a very reasonable price. The prices are fair and there is plenty to choose from on the menu from lamb shanks to chips n cheese and curry all freshly cooked while u wait.
Overall this club has so much to offer. This was a Friday night that I attended, which is for both couples and singles, both male and female. I have to say that everyone was well behaved and knew the rules within the scene. On a serious note if you are new to swinging and going to try a first club out, then this has to be the place to check out. I have been swinging for many years now and attended many clubs and this has to rank number one and I really do think it will be hard to beat. The venue is the cleanest I've come across, the atmosphere is perfect and the people attending and staff are really friendly. What more else could one ask for. So to Lynne, who is the manager, thank you for such a great club, keep up the good work and you will see us back very soon and a big thank you for such a great night.
